As a national, non-profit community resource for the elderly, children of the elderly and other caregivers, advocates and professionals, the Senior Citizens Bureau provides free or low cost services and guidance to the elderly. In addition, they offer an online directory and resource guide that lists various housing, product and service providers. Their national hotline, the Elder Info Line, is available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week for senior members and those with vision limitations. The SCB provides online help for caregivers, information for the elderly and assistance for depression in the elderly.
Age is often beset with physical problems and most times coupled with difficult situations to cope with. Do you feel healthy and lively or do you feel disoriented and tired? Most often as we get older, our bodies do not respond as normally as they used to. We tend to ignore symptoms, which get worse as time progresses. Diabetes is one of the diseases that attack the body when the pancreas either produces little or no insulin, or the cells do not respond appropriately to the insulin that is produced. Glucose builds up in the blood, overflows into the urine, and passes out of the body. Thus, the body loses its main source of fuel. The Senior Citizens Bureau offers various free services to the senior community in order to elevate, enhance and educate their lifestyles.
The SCB uses honest, principled methods of sharing information with our seniors. They spread the word about legitimate services, products and announcements via:
A 24-hour user-friendly website
24-hour toll-free Elder Info Hotline
E-Newsletters
Community Service Announcements
Bi-monthly Newsletter
Online Workshops/Surveys
Conventions/Training Workshops
